There's a wasp in my bathroom!

AGAIN...

I don’t even understand how this is possible!

There is a giant, and I mean BIG mama, three sectioned wasp, in my bathroom…

Ok, on the one hand, we did get all our windows replaced, including the big one in my bathroom that looks out into the garden. I do keep lots of wildflowers out there to encourage bees, butterflies and wasps (which are important pollinators too) but not in my bathroom.

The guys who replaced our windows did a great job and the window space wasn’t open for very long. They took the old window out and put the new one in. I’m pretty sure they would have noticed a giant wasp buzzing around and flying into our home!

The only other thing I can recall is a wasp in our garage one day when we were working out there, but we don’t leave the door to the house open, especially when the AC is running. It seems like a long shot that a large wasp could have flown into the house, gone down the hall, into the bedroom and then into the bathroom, all without being noticed.

Regardless, there was now a big-ass wasp in my bathroom, and she* showed herself late at night, as I was brushing my teeth. Of course.

There wasn’t any panic and honestly, she didn’t look that great, though who am I to judge what a late-night wasp should look like. I don’t know how long she might have been in my bathroom before that night. We do regularly have wasps in the garden and, since she did not seem super healthy to me, I was more concerned than anything. For a few minutes she buzzed around the window and the light over the sink, then she disappeared. There were no more sounds of her activity, and I wondered if she died. The ceilings in our home are high and there was no way to investigate further without getting the ladder.

I figured that could wait until morning.

Of course, the next day I totally forgot and didn’t think any more about it until a few weeks ago when I was giving readings at a metaphysical fair. With mediumship clients, I always like to ask their loved one in spirit, how they’re showing up in the physical world and, from the spirit side, the mother of the woman seated in front of me said, clear as day, “I’m a wasp!”

I don’t hear that one every day. Usually it’s more like feathers, butterflies and cardinals etc. This mother in spirit went on to explain that during her life, her words were often stinging, that she could be aloof, prickly and even a little scary, but that’s just the way she was. Across the table, her daughter was in tears. She said it sounded just like her mother and that she’d recently discovered a wasp nest near her home and was unsure what to do about it.

That night, back in my bathroom, my wasp showed up!

It had been at least two months since our first encounter. Had she been hibernating?

I mean really, what are the odds there could be two? I honestly had no idea.

This time thankfully, it was not so late at night and, though she still didn’t seem super healthy, she was much more active. I really wanted to get her back outside so she would live. She surely wasn’t going to make it living in my bathroom! I asked her to please come down where I could maybe catch her in a cup. No dice. I stopped and asked her what she needed to be able to leave, and I heard in my head, “Water.” I ran to the kitchen and grabbed a plastic container and a bowl of water with some sugar in it. When I came back to the bathroom, there she was, drinking the bits of water in my sink! She didn’t need me to bring her the water; she needed me to get out of the way.

Slowly, I put the plastic container over her, and with a plastic cutting board underneath, my husband helped me take her back outside. She was finally free. I placed her near the wildflowers, and I haven’t seen her since.

While I don’t do a lot of work around animal communication, it does come up from time to time and it’s certainly not the first time I’ve spoken with the flying folk out in my yard. Living in Florida, with a pool and a screened patio, it’s not that unusual for things to fly in and get stuck, even despite our best efforts. I’ve rescued countless butterflies, bees and dragonflies, though this was my first wasp. I’m always grateful when they will allow me to coral them in the pool net and guide them back outside. I can feel their panic. Usually though, there’s a moment when they understand I’m trying to help, and I swear sometimes it seems they’ll just walk into the net once they get it, and out the door we go.

Most light workers know, it’s not uncommon for information that comes through for a client to also be applicable to us. The Universe is always trying to get our attention about something and help point us in the right direction for our higher good. Too often, we’re busy and miss the signs because we’re just not looking for them. A giant wasp in the bathroom is hard to ignore! Clearly something was going so, after she was safely back out in the garden, I looked it up.

The spiritual meanings of wasps are broad, though most sources agree that wasps represent protection, self-defense, sometimes aggression yes, hard work and dedication. They can even signal a wake-up call. I don’t take these things lightly, I mean there was literally a wasp in my bathroom! It’s kind of hard to ignore so, I’m definitely going to be paying attention. It’s surely not a coincidence that when this happened, I was getting ready to launch my new online class, Unspooling Your DNA, which was taking longer than I wanted and had more hiccups than expected. Naturally these are some of the exact things I talk about in class!

Don’t we just love it when the Universe reminds us of our own advice…

Unspooling Your DNA is available on my website, the wasp is safely back outside and, the blackberries in my garden have never been bigger or sweeter than they are this year and I’m thankful to all our various pollinator friends, even the wasps!

*I have no idea if she’s a “she” or a “he”, it’s just my perception that labeled her “she” rather than any scientific proof or knowledge, in case you were wondering.
